Typically, cops don't need to talk to firemen on the radio. That's not to say it never happens, but it's rare.

Re: East Hemet

I remember reading that some years ago, there was a double-murder of deputies (can't remember their names) in the Cabazon-Hemet area. So it was more of a "band-aid" to allow them to simulcast when their EDACS radios are down-which I'm sure you noticed is a given. This is partially correct...

Re: RSO VHF

The talk groups are there. but I do not think they are used at all, but they are there. The EDACS talkgroups for VHF and CLEMARS etc. may even be "hard patched" where the patch is turned on at a maintenance terminal, and even the dispatchers have no control over it. BUT with the new syste...

Re: RSO VHF

Thanks for the explanation, but I thought RSO uses talkgroups on the EDACS radio to communicate with other police forces, but this makes more sense as their radios are not neccesssarily compatible because every other police force uses VHF or UHF frequency pairs. The EDACS talkgroups would be patche...

Re: RSO VHF

I've also seen all the Sheriff's interface channels but a previous forum post I made got me a reply saying they are not in use. That may not be entirely true. All of RSO's VHF channels are there for mutual aid and interoperability situations. There is county wide coverage on CLEMARS (154.920) to co...

Re: RSO VHF

158.895 is the old San Jacinto PD frequency that RSO absorbed when SJPD disbanded. The radio is on North Mountain, and I've never heard any specific uses for other than to own it. What other VHF frequencies were listed? We could probably figure out what's what.

Re: ok i have a question

Skip only happens with low VHF freqs, not 800 mhz. The term "skip" is a misnomer that most people misuse these days. That said, as soon as you declare that propagation enhancements don't take place at 800 MHz, you'd be wrong. Things can and do happen that can cause 800 MHz signals to go a...

Re: ok i have a question

In sd co i was as far as 905 and 805 and had traffic coming across the radio. Does someone know if it was just skip going on or was i a lucky person. Neither, but probably leaning more toward lucky than "skip". Riverside County has some high elevation sites that get out a long way. In som...

Re: West System Transmitter Site and Takgroups.

...Also there is a repeater right next to the lake ...anyone knows whose it is ... Looks like VHF antennas judging by the size....microwave links from Santa rosa....I think it might be an simulcast for DFG. . 8-) That site is part of Riverside's PSEC project. It could have VHF and 700-800 MHz anten...
