Re: Milaircomms.com website taken down
You don't have to be very close to a military airfield, transmissions from aircraft can be heard from a good distance, line of sight is unobstructed from a plane at 30,000. All you need is scanner that covers the 225-390 mhz mil aircraft band and some type of outdoor antenna. I am using a mobile an...

Re: RSO Simplex
Yes, dispatch handles the AOD request to RSO and RSO contacts the air unit on the radio and finds out if they are available and gives the agency requesting and the location. Once on scene, they can communicate direct through whatever channel is being used. A bit of a chain of command I suppose, but...

Re: Santa Claus
I thought Santa Claus was the guy in the White House :) Sent from my Moto X using Tapatalk I think it's just a plain old gimmick. I think all it is to it is we, as family and friends, buy gifts for others. Really, I think no Santa has ever existed. I"ll commit suicide if someone ever finds the...

Re: RSO Simplex
No. RSO air units have multi band radios capable of transmitting on local agencies' freqs, they can come up on any of RPD's freqs and talk to officers in the field direct. They can also talk to SBSO on their trunked systems, and CHP on low band VHF. Aw I see, so when an officer needs a copter, they...

Ah I see. Probably should get into monitoring that kind of stuff. They're like second to public safety I think.sp1989 wrote:The focus of Milaricomms.com is military aviation communications. No trunking systems are covered. RR has a wealth of info re: military P-25 trunked systems.

Santa Claus
With the holiday spirit do any of you think Santa Claus exists? I as a kid thought he did but now I'm sure he doesn't.

Re: RSO Simplex
I've never heard RSO air units or dispatch refer to it as "Bravo" channel, either. I have heard them refer to 123.45 mhz as "Bravo Sierra" for bullshitting channel, they use it to talk to other agencies' air units. Have heard RSO copters talking to "Omaha" which is U.S...

Re: Milaircomms.com website back up
Do they, by any chance, have any information on the US DoD P25 system?sp1989 wrote:Tried it tonite, and it seems to be back. The main thing I like is the ADSB logger, which is working, but with no receiver sites of any value to those of us in the IE. Glad I bought my own receiving equipment for mode S.
