Re: Riverside Sheriff's EDACS : HOW IT WORKS
If I only want to monitor Lake Elsinore units and am located IN Lake Elsinore then I would program the Southwest System only . Even if a Lake Elsinore unit has wandered into the Central System, that units transmissions will STILL be heard over the Southwest System right? That is correct. Lake Elsin...

Re: Black's Towing
Good morning Doug
Brian over at ScanDiego lists Blacks Towing under the Palomar Communications 800 MHz LTR system
See this thead: http://scandiego.com/phpBB/viewtopic.ph ... ght=blacks
I'm unable to copy them from here to verify, but it should be good data.

Re: Decimal vs. AFS for RSO
I have not noticed any difference programming AFS vs Dec on a scanner. I used Decimal since this is how the ID's show up in UniTrunker and they are easier for me to remember. AFS format has a nice pattern though, for example: West system are usually 02-XXX, Southwest/Central 04-XXX, Desert 06-XXX, B...

Re: EDACS + DC + CT + CSQ
The scanner will pick up both the talkgroups and frequencies. In Close Mode the radio only scans for talkgroups that you have programmed in. Putting the radio in "Open Mode" you will get ALL talkgroups (even ones you didn't program). For frequencies Close Mode only listens for activity on ...

Re: Southwest Division
Talkgroup patching is used a lot by RSO (most common during the overnight hours), especially on 561/549 and 529/531.
Below is a snapshot taken last year showing 4 patches on the same system

Re: APCO 25
Unfortunately the Pro-97 will not do P25. You will need a digital scanner such as the Uniden BCD996T, BC396T or the GRE PSR-500/600 or Pro-96. Check the RadioReference classifieds sometimes digital scanners can be had for less than $300. If you want to try LA Sheriff they are still analog and can be...

Re: Question about 159.285 and 159.360
It also comes in handy if you cannot hear a repeater. For example: I'm unable to copy RRU-1 Tone 6 very well so I program the input freq with the tone and that way don't miss anything.

Re: Security Companies
Some of them use LTR systems. Here are a few that I have written down Mobile Relay Associations – Santiago Peak #2 http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=5458 1-19-181 - Security; giving locations in Riverside City and Moreno Valley 1-19-182 - Tac for 1-19-181, same people and related discussion...

Re: Question about Uniden Bearcat BC246T
When you say control channel noise that would be sound #1 --- if this is the case then yes something is definitely wrong because that should not be heard unless you manually tune to the control channel freq. If it's sound #2 (most likely what your hearing) then it's exactly what Chad is describing. ...
