"The RED TGID should also be Phase 1 because Phase 2 scanners are overpriced."
~Ya, I'm sure the County would give up TWO talk paths for the benefit of scanner listeners
The whole incident was patched to RPD CH1 in the clear.

Re: Another Failure
Probably has to do with funding. It costs a LOT to add all the coverage they did, and it would cost even more to do so with adding capacity. According to FCC license reports and ProScan logs, the new system seems to support aboutthe same capacity as the old EDACS system did, just with better coverag...

Re: Another Failure
I think the "gist' of what I was getting at is that no system this "new" should already be experiencing system busies before even achieving the desired subscriber loading levels. EDACS has private calls enabled, PSEC does not. PSEC does however offer far better coverage and security.

Re: Another Failure
Having a unified trunked radio network is a must for interoperability. There are even whole states who have built out, or will build out, statewide networks. Now that PSEC is up and running and is better than the EDACS system, I think they ought to considering having more police and fire services o...

Re: Another Failure
I think this was part of the issue: Corona PD: VHF High LAPD: UHF T-Band, P25. RSO: 800 Mhz EDACS (at the time) RPD: UHF 460 analog SBSO: Proprietary Motorola Type II trunking 800mhz analog CHP: VHF-Low, 7/800 portables I think Fire has the right plan. Every fire agency who is not on VHF-High for th...

Re: Another Failure
The only system that is supposed to be "multi-regional" is FirstNet, but "FirstNet" really is a high speed data system, and there is no real "good" solution for mission critical PTT over LTE yet (Smartphones make HORRIBLE PTT radios and there is no simplex on LTE…a big ...

Re: Another Failure
I wonder if LARICS will cover better in Corona than LAPD's existing system? LARICS from what I understand will use many of the same sites, and in fact even more lower level sites with a smaller but more concentrated footprint in the greater LA area (the cellular approach). Not sure that would have h...

Re: FSP Gone?
I was thinking Sierra / Modjeska / Santiago / Sunset'ish. (I suppose I should have taken the time to look it up myself.) I knew Box would not qualify (the former 453 Mhz site). It will be interesting to see what happens to T-band in the next 5 or os years. All sources indicate the 13 REGIONS (not &q...

Re: FSP Gone?
I wonder where the repeater is. T-Band licenses are not typically granted for base stations more than 50 miles from L.A. City Hall. Some hilltops that serve the Inland Empire are within the 50 mile rule, but even so, T-band mobiles are not supposed to be operating in more than a 30 mile radius of th...

Re: Peeling the lid off the can of worms…again.
An emergency trigger activation will go out regardless if anyone is talking or not and once activated will allow the subscriber declaring an emergency to key over anyone who is talking. (At least in trunking...... and some conventional systems have a dedicated trigger frequency.)
