Weak signals, as in low audio? If so, yes, trying narrow band would be a good idea.

It's possible that the beeps are coming from a single site, but that would indicate something is configured seriously wrong. The other possibility is that the remote scanner is simply not as susceptible to whatever anomaly that causes YOUR scanner to hear the beeps. Remember, at the end of a transmi...

That system is simulcast, so all 4 sites would be transmitting the same thing... bad beeps and all.brandon wrote:...Another solution would be to monitor a different site if reception allows, but this doesn't work for everyone.

RSO doesn't have an ITAC-1 on Santiago Peak. It's on Elsinore Peak and Box Springs, voted and transmitter steered. The ITACS share a common PL, as previously stated, and are supposed to be in a knocked down state where they don't automatically repeat unless commanded on. This is frequently violated,...

Once a channel grant has been requested, and assigned, trunked systems use a tone similar to PL called 'connect tone' that they use to validate the mobile's signal into the system.

I dont understand the whole "image" thing... It's easy. The RF frequency, plus or minus the local oscillator frequency creates the IF, or intermediate frequency. A receiver uses one or the other. The sum or difference frequency that is not intended to be used is called the image frequency...

That is correct. The Orions are control stations (mobile radios, actually) installed on the consoles for air entry into the trunked system when the consoles are down. It's a common (and very good) practice seen in most dispatch centers. BTW, In SB County, they're referred to as "doomsday" ...
