Re: RSO Simplex

zz0468, do you know if the PSEC radios have the I-Call stuff in them? The early ones I gt to work with did not. I don't know what finally got loaded into the radios, but considering they are capable of 1000 channels, it wouldn't make sense to not include the ITAC channels. The EDACS radios did, but...

Re: RSO Simplex

The I-Call and I-Tac channels are likely to remain unencrypted. I'm unaware of any conventional simplex frequencies other than those. There is a provision in the FCC rules that allow Law Enforcement agencies to use any Part 90 frequency for tactical/surveillance use without licensing or coordination...

163.075 BLM Law Enforcement. Turquoise is east of Baker, and in the middle of the Mojave national Preserve. They're dispatched out of San Bernardino.

Re: Alerts

I wouldn't expect the City of Riverside to ever do anything just because the county did it. Quite the opposite, actually.

Re: Alerts

I don't know. They may never go away. Back when PSEC was in it's embryonic conceptual stage, and Fire was deciding at what level to participate, the discussion was about having several layers of redundancy for call alerting. There are some regulatory requirements for redundancy. Using the tone outs...

Re: SBC Emergency

I was really referring to the hardware (infrastructure), but yes, the dispatchers do a helluva job. I couldn't do it.

Re: USAF U-2 up over SoCal this afternoon

Interesting listening... That's been a pretty busy airplane, lately.

Lots of unusual military air traffic lately. Just yesterday, I spotted a pair of V22's low flying westbound over the 210, and minutes later, an eastbound B52 at about 8000ft over Riverside.

Your tax dollar at work.

I think you would be bedazzled by all the behind the scenes infrastructure that exists between the dispatcher, and your scanner.

Re: SBC Emergency

The chase channel is not patched, but as inlandpatch states, it could be - but probably won't. The talk group ID exists in all systems. Same with the red channel talk group but it never seems to be used. Chase is actually used on occasion. There is also a red channel conventional, don't remember the...
