Re: Ham Radio as Scanner?

If you are referring to RSO, the answer is, not really. You could program in the trunked freqs, but it is like listening to them with an old, non-trunking scanner. It's almost impossible to follow a conversation, and you have to listen to a bunch of electronic sounds in between. Just get a trunking ...

Re: Code 11?

Next time you see a Murrieta cop, just ask him. Or call their non-emergency public line and ask. They won't bite, I promise. It's probably something really mundane, like "I'm taking a dump, out of service." According to Radiolabs.com website, it's a SWAT callout.

Re: Riverside CO/California Code Pocket Cheater

That's really cool! Much better that the stupid "QwikCodes" I've been buying for years. I'll be ordering one soon and recommending them to my co-workers. Thanks!

Re: AMR Repeater?

Dispatch used to be by the side of the 215 Freeway north of the 60 on E. La Cadena, but I think it moved. The address on their website is 879 Marlborough Ave. but not sure if that's where it is or just offices. They also have a facility at 15th St & Vine east of the 91. I would think I would get...

Re: AMR Repeater?

Being strangely intrigued, I programmed this into my HH and hooked up the outside antenna, I'm hearing it here in Riverside near Mt. Rubidoux. Hearing patient transports and lots of tones. No signal strength meter, a little scratchy but completely readable. It's repeating 155.295 110.9. At 0927 on 0...

Re: AMR Repeater?

Here is what I have for AMR in the UHF band:

Re: I'm pretty sure this isn't possible, but maybe I'm wrong

If something like that were available, the biggest customers would be cops trying to avoid "the sarge". Back in the mid 80's I worked with a guy who made a "sergeant locator" out of IR motion sensor parts that sat on the dashboard of his unit. It would sound an alarm if anyone ap...

Re: Info on 2010 Uniden Scanner - HomePatrol

The features look kinda cool, the antenna looks flimsy as all get out and can you attach an external one?? Not sure. Good for someone who doesn't know or want to program a scanner I guess. All I know is never buy anything like this the first year it comes out, wait till they get the bugs out.

Re: Out of Area Question

The only trunked systems I listen to are EDACS, so I'm not much help with this. Do you use Starrsoft to program your radio? I use Win96 & 97 and import all the info from Radioreference, which does all the brain work for me. It's worth the subscription price to make programming easy, because if I...
