Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
Most scanner users seem to think we are in the right but I don't know if a lawyer would think that. Most scanner users have zero knowledge of communications law, and the contents of the Communications Act of 1934. I wouldn't rely on the fact that they "think" they're right to keep me out ...

Re: Interesting Desert Sun story
Does this have something to do with the 800 MHz freqs licensed to Indio? 855.2375 855.7375 857.2625 No, but don't be surprised if these frequencies end up being part of the "pool". I would expect the same of Palm Springs 800 frequencies. Frequently, when a JPA is formed, the member agenci...

Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
OMFG, keep the damn scanner on-line. There are thousands of feeds on-line accross the nation and no-one is getting in any trouble for having them up. Don't let the 'radio police' scare you into doing or not doing something your having fun with. I promise you, the real police will not come knocking ...

Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
Who would be responsible? The website hosting my scanner (scanamerica.us), or me? I dunno. I'm not an attorney. I would imagine they'd want to get as close to the source as possible. Also, check out this reply I got from "Cowthief" on the radioreference.com forums...makes very good sence....

Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
In the late 1990s/early 2000s someone used to stream Palm Springs PD and was pressured to take it down by the city. He complied and nothing else ever became of it. That is the only case I can remember where it was an issue. Seeing as there are thousands of scanner feeds online, I wouldn't worry too...

Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
I'd suggest you go look up the rules yourself, and read them. Then, YOU can make an informed decision on whether you keep the thing up on-line. Don't let some anonymous sentence fragments on the internet (like me) dictate what you do. As to the deputies, their communications have NEVER been private,...

Re: Woah, anyone else just hear that?
So should I take my scanner off-line? No big deal to me, I just have it on there for others to enjoy... Oh, I understand WHY you do it. But section 705 clearly states that thou shalt not divulge or *publish* communications that aren't yours. So should you take it off? I'm not gonna say. I'm just te...

Your scanner feed is probably in violation of Section 705 the Communications Act of 1934.convE36 wrote:So let me know your input on this.

Re: RSO Narcotics Task Force
Part 90.19(f)(5) of the FCC rules state that a police department can use any Part 90 frequency in a surveillance or raid without prior FCC authorization. Basically, this means they could pop up anywhere, anytime, and they do. I know for a fact that local law enforcement agencies are aware of this ru...

Re: San Bernardino County Motorola System
You can say what you want about Motorola v EDACS systems, but I think Motorola is far superior. Last night, SBPD had a pursuit that started in the city and traveled as far west as the 605 fwy and Arrow Highway, then throughout the city of Pomona. Ground units could be clearly heard throughout the e...
