Re: Colorado River freq for SBSO
Use System 5 for the area north of Needles, and System 15 in Needles proper. South of Needles uses the desert conventional channels. D-Law-3 for the Havasu area, and D-Law-4 for the Parker area.

Re: SBC on the Web
...Any lack of detail is usually because no one has submitted those details. Or there is no additional detail to be added. The database is missing the Ontario Mill's Mall system, System 12, and the D-Law radio at Victoria Gardens. The Mill's system gets patched with OPD on system 9, and the D-Law a...

Re: SBC on the Web
The big advantage of RR is that all TGIDs are nicely grouped. It still does not provide a ton of detail. Hopefully, it'll expand over the years. I'm curious as to what you think the RR database is missing for SB county. It seems to be fairly accurate, and since it's based on what listeners hear, it...

Re: Care and McCormick Ambulances
Interesting. In my wildest dreams I could never imagine them on a National Science and Technology network. I would think they'd be on VHF/UHF like most private ambulance companies are. Why is that? National Science and Technology, Inc. is a business run by Ted Henry, of Henry Radio in Los Angeles f...

Re: Another Failure
Hmm, anyone know if the PSEC system is even theoretically able to handle this kind of user behavior any better (that is to say, let's assume the users are engaging in the same "bad operational procedures" and, if so, would the PSEC system be any better at dealing with that then the old ED...

Re: Another Failure
...the new system seems to support about the same capacity as the old EDACS system did, just with better coverage (and EDACS was at cap befoe.) A good part of the EDACS system overloading was caused by RSO operational procedures, and overall being cheap. For most of the system lifespan, data traffi...

Re: Another Failure
Fire does interoperability very well all the time on NATIONWIDE level without a unified trunked system. It's called using the SAME BAND and MODE. Even when fire agencies are primarily operating on 700/800 MHz trunked systems, as is done in San Bernardino County, the equipment is also equipped with ...

Re: Bearcat 536HD
Ask yourself a few questions first. What is it you hope to listen to with a 536 that you can't listen to now? You're probably going to say the several newer P25 phase II systems around. Most law traffic is encrypted... are you ok with that? What do you have now, and what's driving the need for a new...

Re: Another Failure
Having a unified trunked radio network is a must for interoperability. Not true. The specific technology used is far less important than the logistics and planning. There are even whole states who have built out, or will build out, statewide networks. And many of those state wide projects have been...

Re: Another Failure
In my mind there have always been three types of law enforcement radio interoperability. Each has unique and specific applicability (and potential drawbacks), making training and practice extremely important. I think all three are necessary. It's more like 5 to 7 types of interoperability, dependin...
