217.350Mhz

Post by ehgriffith »

I have noticed heavy traffic on 217.350 which comes in crystal clear in central Murrieta. Seems to be related to some kind of bus or concession operations, but I can think of nothing in 25 miles that would match this. Checked the FCC database, and see nothing that matches either. Any idea what is operating on this frequency?

I just punched this in, receiving quite well here in Valle Vista. Sounds like shuttle buses for Disneyland, mentioned Walnut & Katella, different route #s, "No passengers on my bus," "In the park right now", Toy Story & Disney.

It is Disneyland for sure, mentioning the various rides there, pick up passengers at designated spots, etc.

Just heard someone say there were going to the supervisor's channel, which seems to be 217.3525.

I kind of suspected that, but it didn't seem to make sense that they would be covered that far away from the park. Thanks for your response.

Xmitter site is Santiago Peak. One weird thing, RR says Nextel is a trunked system, but I am not hearing any control channel, and the voice traffic does not seem like it is jumping around from freq to freq.

I've monitored this system on & off for the past couple of years. It's an LTR system, so you won't hear a control channel like you would on MOT or EDACS.

What you're hearing are the transit buses that shuttle people to & from Disneyland. I've ID'd the following talk groups for them as:
0-16-101 primary bus TG
0-16-102 "channel 2" for TG 0-16-101
0-16-103 "supervisor" TG for this group.

I've also ID'd a bus system that serves Pomona & surrounding area; a medical transport business, tow trucks - the usual mix you'll find on any LTR system.

The freqs and LCN order listed on RR seem to be accurate.

Anybody know who makes the radios that operate in this range?
I don't recall ever seeing any of the big manufacturers selling 217 MHZ bandsplits.
