Hey, just noticed this system today. Dont know how long it has been here, but noticed it. When I program the system in, I get the 3F3 ID, which I discovered a while back. When will this system be active?

3F3 should be the Orange County TRS if you hear from Temecula?
ERICA officials have petitioned the FCC, to grant them an STA for three additional frequencies. Once this STA is granted, they plan to activate the system to begin testing.

From: http://forums.radioreference.com/greate ... pdate.html
This was recently granted, so hopefully the ERICA will be up soon for testing.

According to this post on RadioReference the system is up for testing.
It also says most talkgroups will be encrypted.

It's ready

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

KESQ ran this story on ERICA.

New Digital Radio System Phased In For Valley Police - Local News Story - KESQ Palm Springs

http://www.kesq.com/news/24430567/detail.html

It will rollout Monday, but I just heard PSPD advising a unit on their unencrypted system to contact another unit "on the ERICA radio."

The press can obtain an authorized receiver from law enforcement for about $6K. Remember when RSO went EDACS? They offered us leases on portables for $360 a year. Now, THAT's inflation!

PS... I don't own a digital so don't even ask! LOL

FYI... I am told Indio PD has cut over and 158.730 is now silent.

Desert Hot Springs PD will be switching over on Monday. More than likely Cat City will convert on Monday as well.

Just those selected desert cities will go ERICA. The County and City areas contracted by Sheriff will eventually switch to 700MHz PSEC. This system will also have 800MHz Type II Smartzone, P25 Trunking and Conventional capability if needed. I am not sure what Murrieta, Corona, Hemet, City of Riverside etc. have in mind.
