Riverside PD ch 13

Post by retiredFD07 »

This morning RPD was involved in a vehicle pursuit that started in the city and went to I-15 just north of I-215 in the Cajon pass. CHP took over the pursuit in San Bernardino. While heading north on I-215 the RPD dispatcher told the pursuit units to use channel 13 for communications. I'm not sure this was because they would be leaving the range of the city repeater, or if they were looking for a freq that they could communicate with CHP on. Does anyone know what RPD channel 13 is?

Someone mentioned a frequency on these forums a while back that was used for RPD units when they were out of range of the main repeaters while they were RCRMC, 460.4625. The person that provided the info said it was CH 6, so not sure.

Many years ago, I remember a pursuit that went way into Corona towards OC, and the RPD unit switched to some channel which was simplex to keep in touch with the air unit, maybe thatwas what happened. I'm sure the RPD air unit has radios capable of talking with SBSO & CHP direct, I know the RSO heli's do.

RPD went to a simplex channel 6. This is RPD channel 1 460.175. When out of the area they ask for the UHF CLEMARS channel with air 1 support.

I recall seeing a list of RPD channels, don't remember where or how I got it, but it had simplex of most of their freqs which were numbered above CH 7, so this info makes sense. I wish I still had that list. Thanks, tk!

Thanks for the comments. On this particular incident RPD Air 1 was not available. I believe 40 KING was the air support that joined in the chase just as it was ending. He was on CHP San Bernardino 39.26.

I'm wondering if they didn't go to one of the standard mutual aid frequencies, or even the CHP UHF access freq 460.45.

sp1989: I have 460.4625 in the scanner, never heard anything. I know this repeater covers the MoVal area and south along I-215, and probably north aways. During the pursuit conversation someone mentioned to the pursuing units that their ch 1 comms would be good up to about the University exit on I-215.
