It's probably a "borrowing" to from SBC for FD Tactical. SBC has their trunked system which has fire on it and they too are working on developing a P-25 radio system.

San Bernardino county used to contract for fire protection to CAL FIRE but decided to form their own fire department several years ago. The cities of Highland and Yucaipa contract with CAL FIRE. These cities and the rest of BDU are dispatched on this frequency.

OK Kingscup thanks for the explanation as always. I saw it listed yesterday and was wondering what it was. It could be that it's audible round the Calimesa area because that area seems close to San Bernardino County.

Must be some extra repeaters along the way that extend coverage.

That's "Local West" on Strawberry, Heaps, Keller and Onyx I think. It's Highland / Yucaipa fire dispatch and used to be fire dispatch for the entire southern portion of San Bernardino County when they contracted with CDF.

Thanks for the information. Just wasn't sure of it.
