RSO interop testing with SDSO on RCS

Saturday morning RSO dispatch was testing with San Diego SO and Field unit. RSO was on RCS LE North Command. All in the clear not sure if it was a patch or does PSEC have a gateway?

Not sure how it works with PSEC since I'm out of the loop now, but RSO dispatch has always had TGs to communicate with surrounding agencies' dispatch, San Diego included. Never heard much traffic on them with EDACS, seems like a landline is quicker and more secure in most cases.

IT was like that on the EDACS system they had TGIDS for RRU, and nearby county sheriffs/police forces.

They're likely in the clear because RCS has many talkgroups in the clear. Was it analog or digital?

LE North Command is a analog TG

do you know how the patched worked, i.e. was a patch with a clear PSEC talkgroup and a clear analog with RCS or just RCS in the clear?

The patch is that - a console patch from a RCS talkgroup to a PSEC talkgroup.

I'm curious what the transmission path is. Did they ever put in a microwave link between the counties, or are they doing it via air-entry across the two systems? There was talk of a mw link for years, probably from Elsinore Peak to Red Mountain, but that never seemed to get beyond the good idea stage. I recall that there was going to be an RCS radio and Elsinore Peak, which would be a cheap way to provide some connection between the counties, but I never heard how it ended up. There's been a microwave link between Riverside and San Bernardino Counties since about 1992. It's an idea the engineering types would love to see, but it's a hard sell to the bean counters.

Both exist. A PSIC control station at a RCS site, and a MW link between the two counties.

I figured it would. EDCAS had a bunch of interop TGIDs.
