Moreno Valley
Morrison Park Fire Station- A new fire station will be built at the corner of Cottonwood Avenue and Morrison Street on a site that is approximately 1.5 acres. The design documents are approximately 50% complete. The project is scheduled for bid and award in summer of 2011. The proposed fire station will be funded using 2007 Redevelopment Agency Tax Allocation Bond funds which are specifically allocated for design and construction of this
fire station. The station is expected to be in public service in the fall of 2012, barring any unforeseen circumstances.
No further info in the article.

What is ironic is that unlike most cities in RVC that have a city police department and contract w/RVC Fire (like Indio and DHS), Norco seemed to have it turned around! They contracted with RSO and had a city fire department. Whereas communities that contract with RSO also contract with RVC fire!

Isn't that the seventh fire station for MV that had been planned for?

I am not sure exactly what you mean but it will be the seventh fire station within MoVal. Rumor was that MoVal would have about 12 fire stations in the future once the city was fully built out. FS58 is currently on the east side of the city. Once build out of the city was complete, it would actually become the middle of the city.

I just remembered hearing something that there could be a seventh fire station built in MV over the few years but 12 fire stations would almost make it its own metropolis. It'd be 2nd in number of fire stations next to Riverside City.

By the same token, Santa Clarita has eight fire stations now, and I remember reading that by 2016, there'll be at least eight more there. These small towns, they're growin' all right.

Any chance there'll be a new FS built in Palm Desert or in the vicinity anytime soon?

There have been plans to build a "University fire station" on or near the CSUSB campus in the area of Gerald Ford and Frank Sinatra Dr. Again, due to the economy, it has been placed on hold for now.
