RSO helo on UHF

RSO helo on UHF

Just heard RSO's helo announce its' presence on 369.0 mhz, much like military aircraft fo on 255.10 mhz. Pilot ID'ed as "Sheriff's helicopter" with position. I could see it in my neighborhood at the same time.

369.000 is the third harmonic of 123.000 MHz (Hemet Ryan CTAF freq) so most likely the air unit was pretty close to you when he keyed up :)

Yes, he was almost directly overhead. Thanks for clearing that up! Haven't really thought about harmonics since the days you could use the image to listen to cellphones =)
