Oc P-25

Post by cvrules90 »

Is OC still using the Motorola CCCS radio or the new P25 radios? I see they've listed all the talkgroups and to be honest, they look just like the structure of the Motorola system. Thanks.

Good stuff Brandon.

Looks like they're working on upgrading it so the Motorola radio is still the dominant one (for now anyway).

And the Motorola radio will remain the dominant one. XTS's can do P25 phase 1. If they end up going phase 2, which I doubt, the APX will be the radio of choice.
I would guess that they will do the upgrade at the same time as they reband. Would make sense to do it all at once instead of having to do 2 separate reprograms/cutovers.

The APX 7000 is so cool. I never knew these radios has such color displays like cell phones. I always thought they were mere LCDs like scanners. I think the RSO EDACS radios are like that.

Th ones RSO have don't, at least not the samples given to the troops a year or so ago. Maybe the full functional versions do. EDACS are like a scanner screen, just backlit digitial numerics.

The last thing you want responding to a call is a damn radio that lights up pinpointing your location.

Mix of 3000's and 5000's. Mostly 3k's that I've seen. Considering that 3k's are ancient by today's standards, I can see many depts going to the APX series eventually, but as I was saying before, the XTS' s can do Phase 1 with the right flashcode, so the subscriber units shouldn't hold up the upgrade, AFAIK.

OK the system is not in the database anymore. It was probably a temporary use system that was being tested and taken off. Don't know if it will come back on again but everyone remains Motorola for now and not P-25.
