CHP San Bernardino dispatching a "75-" unit to I-10 near Cedar. PL was 127.3.
Radio Reference lists this as a CHP UHF frequency for use statewide, but this is the first time I've heard it used by CHP.
Four years ago I heard a DMV unit calling Fresno here.

Possibly used for interoperability between regions becuase it's such a large state. Possibly statewide common.

That is one of the 460 mhz frequencies that CHP inherited when they absorbed the old California State Police. The UHF freqs are used for CA State building security, VIP escorts & protection. I show 460.450 as a Northern CA freq, weird that you heard a '75' unit being dispatched on it, that is San Bernardino. Maybe UHF has been re-allocated for a different use lately. The only time I have heard any traffic on 460.450 was years ago when it was the primary dispatch freq for Riverside Community College P.D.

I plugged in this freq and in the last hour I heard "Union Pacific 7534" and "Union Pacific 7503" callsigns on it.

Interesting that you mention that, Brandon. When I heard this the other day it was in reference to the CHP unit being dispatched to a report of someone on the freeway trying to access the railroad yards at that location (I-10 near Cedar). The dispatcher also mentioned contacting the railroad police.

Most likely UP Police, coordinating with CHP.

The CHP UHF system is now used for the dispatching of other state agencies who contract with CHP for services (DMV investigators is an example). In many cases the CHP dispatcher will leave the UHF channel multi-selected with whatever low band channel the dispatcher is working (which is what I suspect was going on when the 75 unit was communicating).

460.375 and 460.450 are now used statewide.

Thanks for the info, "800". Sounds like it might be worth monitoring for a heads-up on CHP activity.

Two more freqs I can now put into the scanner where Riv Co Sheriff used to be.

Thanks for the info, 800. Must be relatively new, I never used to hear anything on the CHP UHF freqs, guess I will put them back in.
