RSO On the New System

This forum is used for topics that specifically relate to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department. This area was mostly for stuff about the old EDACS system, but new topics about RSO are also welcome.

RSO On the New System

Post by cvrules90 »

Can anybody tell me how RSO will format Talkgroups on the new system? Will each station be dispatch, car/car, and special ops?

I think it's too early to know.

Here is a list of talkgroups logged so far.
I would assume these are all test groups and could change.

Now to go off trail for a bit....

Lets take a look at id's 81, 82 and 83. Based on activity thus far, one could speculate that 81 could be a dispatch, 82 a car-to-car and 83 special ops encrypted. Of course this is total guessing on my part and most likely NOT the real scenario... But it's part of the fun looking at brand new systems. There is no way to know for certain unless your involved in the development of this system or when it comes online and folks can start to analyze the volume of activity on real world talkgroups.

I don't monitor RSO much up here in the SB Mountains.

The County of Riverside is building a new voice and data communications system to replace the current aging 800 MHz system. RSO will be the main user of the new system which will be a digitally encrypted trunked system for them. Fire will use the data portion of it while keeping the current voice channels. Who knows who else will use it but expect other county depts to use it as well. I believe the county wanted all public safety agencies in the county to use it but at this time, they appear to be doing their own thing.

Yeah guess it will be same as with the current EDACS. Only RSO and data for RVC fire. I bet there'll be mutual aid/interop links with RVC Fire and other police forces.
