Skywarn net has been activated 20/Aug/2014

Post by sp1989 »

Just copied a transmission that the Skywarn net is active until further notice due to the extreme weather passing through the I.E. Several stations reporting lightning strikes. Skywarn is a batch of ham radio freqs for reporting weather events. Kinda interesting when it's stormy.

I know the RadioShack PRO163/4 have that feature.

Had a very active night in the Menifee area. Started about 1:30 am and lasted until around 9am or so. Heavy rain, hail and cloud to ground lightning. Storms fired up again this afternoon as well.

Was it cold or did it feel muggy?

Felt pretty cool for mid August maybe upper 60s. Humidity not too bad compared to a couple weeks ago when it last rained.

I saw the sky flashing bright last night towards the SW, even though there were no clouds in Hemet at the time. Looked a weather radar, and there was a strip of extreme weather aimed right at Hemet. Awesome thunderstorm with hail the size of Atomic Fireballs (the candy) and cool cloud to cloud and cloud to ground lightning this AM about 0600 PDT. Best show I've seen in a long time, thanks, God! It was swell!

Oooh that's quite pleasant. Must have felt good given all the heat.

Friend of mine posted photos of his kid swimming in the rain. He lives in Palm Desert.
