C-17's at March ARB

Post by John L »

Watched 3 C-17's fly in together from the NE at about 5:30 PM tonight. They checked in with March Tower 127.650 and landed one behind the other. Rare to see them out 3 at a time. Anyone know where they might have been?

Thanks

Currently showing 3 C-17's in the area of March ARB on mode S, c/s IMPAC91, 92 & 93. According to mode S logs, they were active yesterday, as well, maybe it was them?

Thanks for the info. It may have been. I didn't have my ear that close to the scanner. It was just something that I hadn't seen before. Two at a time yes but not Three.Possibly they were visiting because I believe the MAFB C-17's have the "REACH" handle. Maybe not all of them.

The most common call sign for March C-17's is SLAM, sometimes REACH. Have heard some other unusual ones for KC-135 NORAD missions, usually GASMAN, and BLUE for Coronet missions.
