Press release from Riverside Police Dept.
Source: https://www.facebook.com/RiversidePD/po ... 2756731037RIVERSIDE, CA – On Sunday December 6, 2015 at about 6:29pm Riverside Police Department officers were dispatched to a call of “shots fired, active shooter” inside the Galleria at Tyler in the City of Riverside. A Riverside Police Officer who is assigned full-time to the Galleria at Tyler arrived within minutes and was later supported by numerous officers from the Riverside Police Department, deputies from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, and officers and deputies from other surrounding agencies.
Officers were able to determine that three masked suspects entered the Ben Bridge jewelry store inside the mall and used hammers and axes to smash jewelry cases and steal jewelry. Customers inside the mall mistakenly thought the loud smashes and people ducking for cover was an active shooter incident. Teams of officers immediately went through the entire mall, did a security sweep, and did not find any suspects. Employees and customers were told to shelter-in-place during the sweep. Once the sweep was completed the people inside the mall were escorted outside.
Officers recovered the suspect vehicle nearby and there are no reports of any injuries. Detectives and an evidence technician were called to the scene and are investigating the robbery. Anyone with any information on this robbery is asked to call Detective Mike Medici at (951) 353 – 7104.
