When I worked at RGH in the mid 90's a RSO OH-6 they acquired from the USAF landed at the RGH helipad, the pilot had court at Juvie and asked for permission to land there. The copter looked cool as f*ck from a distance, flat black with no markings. We went out to look at it on the pad, up close it was a POS. It still had dirt, weeds, etc from Nam inside, along with the original OD paint. The flat black looked like it had been applied with a paint brush, and there were nuts and bolts on the tail rotor that looked as if they came from Home Depot. I would've never flown on that thing. The amazing feature was a really awesome radio that covered VHF low, high, UHF, 800 mhz EDACS and Motorola trunked (for SBSO I'm sure). I think that radio must have cost more than the whole OH-6 was worth. I'm not a tech so I don't know what brand of radio it was, but it looked mighty cool, like something from the C-57D from "Forbidden Planet" =)

The main reason I want to hear when a helicopter is en route to RCH is so I can take pictures of it landing. By the time I hear them approaching, they are on the ground by the time I get my camera.

Oh I've wanted to take pictures of emergency vehicles (specifically fire trucks and ambulances) responding but they go WAY too fast. Faster than I can dig out my phone.

There was some free lance news photographer that had it figured out where to listen, because he would always show up right when the Mercy Air copters were landing to take pictures. His car was covered in different types of antennae. I think the asshole was hoping to catch one crash at the helipad and have exclusive pictures to sell.

I have seen red Eurocopters there recently as well, I assume the same company. RR has no listings for REACH, anyone have any ideas? I've never seen them around here until recently, I found they have a base in Upland, CA.
Reach air uses vhf hi for communications to base , 155.220 on pl 127.3 , the am channels are boring.
