Riverside PD Frequencies

Post by John L »

So I programmed RPD based on what we have listed here on our WebPages . I believe that they are talking about going to PSEC.I am not receiving anything on Channels 1-5. Channel 6 ( Canyon Springs ) seems to be very active and covers areas in most of the City.Mostly Dispatching Calls.Nothing on 7 or 9 and a small amount on Channel 8 (Clemars). Are there any updated Freq's that I should be using? I did get a couple of hits on Channel 4 today ( Car- to - Car.)

On another note,

I read on RR where a guy is picking up PSEC in Georgia with a GRE PSR 800. Would that be a different PSEC than what we have out here? Is PSEC more than a beefed up P-25 Type 2 ? Guess that would be too simple.

Thanks

A different PSEC. PSEC stands for Public Safety Enterprise Communications system, it is not a transmission type like EDACS or P-25. There are scanners that COULD pick it up, if it were not 100% encrypted. Even animal control, road dept., etc. Sounds like RPD has switched or in the process if you are not hearing anything. I moved out of the area and cannot listen to it from my new location.

They are still using their normal UHF freqs.

New PSEC talkgroups were noted last week, but they are not being actively used yet.

Last I heard was Spring or Summer of this year. But I'll leave it to those in the know confirm it.

Thanks to both of you for the info. Use to be able to pick up RPD from my place years ago but looks like the trees have grown and the houses have gone up.I went back and read some older post and found out about the Canyon Springs Channel. I'll enjoy RPD while we still can.

Some of the RPD stuff is a bit hit and miss where I'm located. Ch 1, 2 and Ch 3 come in pretty terrible some days, and other times it's full scale. It's funny because their Ch 4, 5, etc. have always been rock solid here, just like the fire channels. Been this way for the last 10 years since I've been listening.

I rarely listen to RPD but I'm not surprised at all by them going encrypted.
