What a sad day for those of us in the hobby. I got my strart scanning 22 years ago when my now-step-father showed me this handheld radio that used these silver crystal things to magically allow you to hear the local fire department and police.
I would later get my ham license, and--for the past 6 years--get to talk on the radio for a living as a tow truck dispatcher.
I always had a copy of Police Call on the shelf, with it's pages dog-eared, and the ink rubbing off. That is when you could read it, in between my scribbled notes!!
