Menifee is launching its own police force, hoping to save $6 million a year

Menifee — is creating its own police department and gearing up to take responsibility for law enforcement in the city of almost 100,000 residents on July 1, 2020.
The year leading up to the July 2020 launch will be a transition period. Menifee Police Chief Pat Walsh plans to spend the next year building a force of 58 sworn officers and 17 staff members,
