866.425 and county jails

Post by brandon »

Picking up 866.425 D131 very strong from I-215 x Clinton Keith. This may be Southwest Detention Center security.

Other frequencies logged but not able to confirm yet
866.925 D131
460.275 131.8

The 866.425 freq is also in use at Blythe Jail.
A while back I received hits on 866.600 D131 in the downtown Riverside area, this may be RPDC or other county facility.

I am not sure who that frequency belongs to? The RSO conventional jail frequency is 854.9625 (see my list below). RSO's EDACS has 5 trunking systems (West, South, Central, Desert, and Blythe) and one conventional system (mutual aid or conventional). The conventional system is comprised of 32 channels, which includes jail operations. I do not have all the frequencies yet, so if you can fill in any gaps please let me know.

Hi,
866.600 is a non-trunked freq used at RPDC and SCF (maybe others as well, but those for sure) for jail operations. This is required because the radios cannot reliably connect with the control channel inside the building because of all the metal. The trunked jail talk groups are not in use at those facilities. The RCRMC jail ward talk group is also not used for the same reason. 854.9625 was the original non-trunked jail freq, known as Jail 15, however it was changed several years ago to 866.600 which is Jail 2. 866.425 is Jail 1.

460.275 was channel 3 on the old pre-trunked Motorola HTs used in RSO jails. It was the primary freq for the old Riverside General Hospital security team. When everyone switched to trunked radios, the 460 mhz radios were collected and disappeared. There were quite a few of them, maybe the are still in use for something at SWDC.

Great info everyone! Saves me from making a few trips :D

As for 460.275 this may be used for Juvenile Hall based on the locations listed in the FCC. Not much voice activity but I did hear 'school' mentioned.

Any ideas about 866.925? Perhaps one of the court freqs?

The 3 460mhz freqs listed are the 3 that were in the old jail HTs. The Riverside locations are Juvie Hall and ETS. I'll try and see what I can pick up next time I'm near there.

866.925 is non-trunk Court 1 channel. 867.100 is Court 2.

All the non-trunk 800 freqs are from the current HT programming in Riverside.

Check the FCC database. There's was once a set of 4 conventional frequency pairs licensed for each of the jail facilities. They sat idle for years. Apparently they've seen the light, and are starting to implement them. Yay.
