The 147.435 MHz (W6NUT) repeater has moved to Saddleback

Post by 10-35 »

If you have never heard it before and/or need a good laugh, the 147.435 MHz (W6NUT) amateur radio repeater moved to Saddleback on Saturday, April 24, 2010. The 147.435 repeater is known as the "Animal Farm" repeater because it's where all the nuts hang out. Pretty much anything goes on this repeater. Evening hours are the best.

You would think the FCC would shut it down, but it has been running for over 34 years. Common belief is the FCC lets it run to keep the nutcases contained on one repeater.

Being on Saddleback, it is easily accessable to most of us in Riverside County, either for listening or for talking on (if properly licensed). Notice that it is an odd-split. It is 147.435 MHz (input of 146.40 MHz with a CTCSS/PL of 103.5). Don't listen to it at work or near children.

Enjoy,
