Anyone know why they have been using Ch3 instead of Ch1?

San Gabriel's p25 turn off code is 134 hz.The signal is stronger than RPD'S pl tone of 131.8 and in parts of the city this blocks out the signal.

That's not good. Hopefully they can get it fixed.
Thanks for the info.

As far as I know, Ch. 3 is supposed to be alternative dispatch. May be used in overflows (like in the afternoon when most calls are coming in). Although I am not 100% sure of that. Maybe someone else who monitors it may know the correct answer to this.

Used to be Ch 1 was primary and when it was really busy, they would go "split city," with north end units going to Ch 3 for primary dispatch and Ch 1 for south end. The exception was if either 1 or 3 were 10-33 for an in progress incident, when another channel would be assigned as primary, usually 2.

Anyone know what is the border for north and south? That is, when RCPD goes split city, what is the street that divides north and south parts of the city.

I had a map but I can't find it right now, I think it's anything below Arlington Ave. for the older part, and who knows what up in Orange/Woodcrest, it keeps getting gerrymandered.

They don't do the split city anymore. They did that when calls used to back up. They put all non emergency calls on the the computers for units to handle.Saves air time.
