Murrieta PD Clemars

Today, I heared Murrieta Dispatch doing tests for their Clemars channel (the officer advised it was pssibly channel 6). Anyone know about this?

It could be 868.5125.
If they called it Ch 6, then I'm curious to know what other channels they have in the line up.

What exactly is CLEMARS? Is it some kind of mutual aid system or what? I think Hemet and Banning had that once and Blythe has Mesa.

CLEMARS stands for California Law Enforcement Mutual Aid Radio System.

It seems the whole state is going to narrowband in 2013. That explains why Riverside County Fire narrowbanded I guess.

The whole country has to go narrowband per federal government regulations.

So by how much would the VHF/UHF frequencies change if the state narrowbanded? I mean I know that RVC Fire recently narrowbanded but by how much would actual frequencies shift? Also would any scanners be affected by that change?

The frequencies themselves probably won't change very much, if at all. The major change is going to be the mode that you set the scanner in. Usually, this gets changed from FM to NFM.

What if I have a PRO 164 that doesn't let me switch between FM and FMN?

On a scanner it won't really be an issue other than the audio sounding a bit low.
