On Tuesday, October 9th Riverside County will host a Radio Rodeo. Here is a quote from the CalSIEC Southern Planning Area meeting minutes:
Robert Stoffel – Riverside County Sheriff’s Department put together a proposed plan, with thoughts of how we might make this a SPA event. The date for this event is confirmed for Tues, Oct. 9th. We will need to know soon, which operational areas want to participate and if agencies will stay local to their area or drive to the Riverside location. Sam Hamood (AT&T) – AT&T has a cell phone tower in a box. They would like to coordinate with an agency to test how that would work. Both Orange County and Riverside County are interested in use of this device...

Alex Harris - Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is deploying to several locations and will establish gateway links. The number of locations will depend on how many other counties will be participating and how many agencies will be coming to Riverside. Riverside County Sheriff’s Department is looking for agency commitment and agency frequencies available so that they can put a communications plan together.

Robert took a poll of interested agencies:
1. Los Angeles County Sheriff: Yes, will go to Riverside location
2. Los Angeles County Fire: Yes (tentatively)
3. Orange County Sheriff: Yes, will set up at a location in Orange County
4. National Guard: Yes, will go to Riverside location
5. Orange County Fire Authority: Yes (tentatively), will go to Riverside location
6. Murrieta Police Department: Yes, will go to Riverside location
7. San Diego Sheriff: Unknown at this time. Don Root will let Operations know about
the rodeo.
8. Border Patrol: Tom Lawless will talk to the Border Patrol to see if they would be
interested.
9. Inyo County Sheriff: Yes, will to go Riverside location
This should be an opportunity to hear some interesting and unusual radio traffic. I wonder if PSEC will be in play.

The main goal of the rodeo is to test interoperability between the various agencies and to showcase equipment
PSEC is not on the agenda this year and probably won't be anytime soon, since a trunked, digital, encrypted, X2-TDMA system doesn't play into the whole idea of interoperability very well. :)
Mostly radio checks on the various mutual aid freq's. CLEMARS, FIREMARS, VFIRE, VTAC, UTAC, etc...

Not too much from the listener's perspective. There was quite a variety of agencies that participated. LACoFD, LASD and OrCo were involved in addition to Riverside County agencies. The main goal of the event is to make sure that everything works the way it's supposed to.
I will share that things did not work as they were supposed to, but that is the way it goes sometimes and is reality when you are dealing with computers and sophisticated electronic equipment.
Part of being in the comm business is being able to "roll with the punches".
No secrets as far as frequencies. All well-known published mutual aid channels. No trunked talkgroups were used to my knowledge.
