With out sounding mean you have the wrong frequency. Double check under Riverside city. Everything seems to be working. Also check the ctss (pl) tones.

460.175 is dispatch for Riverside Police Dept, not fire. 460.575 & 460.600 are fire dispatch & response freqs.

I only know dispatch to be 460.575. I think 460.6 is command or tac but I wouldn't know without looking it up.

You're likely out of range. You could try getting your hands on a telescopic antenna. They give great coverage but are really long.

It is likely you are out of range because of terrain...especially if you can hear LASO etc...I think terrain is your enemy here. Try a better antenna and/or a pre amp. Years ago I had a Bearcat 250 that wouldn't pick up shit unless it was across the street.....got a pre amp and it was like the blind seeing again. And that was 1982 technology. Don't know if they are still in business but the pre amp I got way back then was a nice unit from Grove electronics, it was like $40 I think. It did wonders with nothing but a whip attached. When I put up a roof antenna I actually had to use the attenuator on a AOR scanner I used to have.

The cheapest trick, especially if you live in an apartment, is buy a mobile scanner antenna and throw it up on the roof, as long as it's sort of upright it's all good. I used that at many an apartment. Or, get one of those $14.00 sort of discones from Rat shack, hook it to some RG6U and throw that on the roof, that works well too, and when you move just give 'er a yank. learned that one from a LASD buddy back in the day...good luck!

This is the antenna I was talking about. Ooops price went up since 1982, whadda ya know? Still cheap though....
