AFAIK, they are all digital and encrypted, so FUGGEDABOUTIT. Gone are the days of VHF mid band in the clear. used to hear some good shit when I lived in L.A. back in the early 80's. Them were the days.....

Try again, fellas!

There is **plenty** of stuff in the clear. In fact, I listened to a few ops just last week.

http://www.socalfedcom.blogspot.com has a good list.

In their radios, encryption is selectable and not strapped. You will hear encrypted stuff sporadically, but more often than not, it's clear digital.

I was always under the impression that FBI comms were totally encrypted-just like border patrol officers.

I believe that it is all digital at least, so if you don't have a digital scanner you are SOL. Last time I tried, all I got in the clear was some kind of security ops (maybe a VA hospital) and some electronic tones. Guess I'll try again. I'm sure anything good is encrypted.
