Would work well for scanning conventional emergency and non-emergency channels in Riverside County, and they're cheap-around $100.

I absolutely HATE scanners that look like kitchen utensils and clock radios.

Ah come on! Nothing better than having a bedside unit so you can lie on the bed and listen to police/fire comms. And great for when you hear a siren in the middle of the night and wanna know why they woke you up.

All mine are handhelds, except an old Radio Shack Pro 2004. Too bad it doesn't trunk, it would be perfect.

Yeah good point! I can't believe that Uniden makes conventional all-in-ones like this one. In this day and age, they should consider making a trunktracker clock radio IMHO. Maybe we should all write to them. I'm wondering why they don't do that. I guess they're lazy and think this is a plethora of features but fail to realize that not many emergency services are on conventional radio systems anymore.

And it doesn't alpha-tag, doesn't do P-25, no PL/DPL/NAC codes, and NO Fire Tone-Out.
