Big Ed, even when I lived in Riverside close to the riverbottom, there were many fires when RFD switched to a tac freq, and even though I was quite close, traffic was barely readable and somtimes i couldn't hear crap. I'm talking 1/4 to 1/2 mile to the fireground. So from your location, I wouldn't expect to hear much on the simplex freqs unless through some freak of propagation, like reflecting off some new building they have put up in downtown Riverside. Speaking of which, why do all the new buildings make it look like Baghdad with all the domes on top?
