Old school trivia time

Many moons ago RPD had " HARP " units this time of year. Anybody want to guess who they were. I'll post what the answer is after 5 wrong guesses.

was it victor units retired officers like citazian on patrol something like that sp ? big ed

They were volunteers. My dad started the program. We got to big and started to take away the OT hours from the PSR units. So you know what happens next!

The ones I was thinking of were paid, I can't remember the title now, but a requirement was you had to be retired law enforcement. It only lasted a couple of years, this was probably 20 years ago.

We had a retired Lt Mawn and Retired officerJim Creel as the police representative they were paid. They had the access and clearance for gas - maintenance - front door to Orange street for radios and briefing notes.

Holiday Anti Robbery Patrol RPD had 2 slick top UC units with detectives in street close hanging around the banks that were near both shopping centers. There was a group from Compton and South LA robbing banks at opening time.
