San Diego County fires

Post by paulmcg1 »

Anyone hearing anything from the San Diego County fires? I heard air tankers on a US Forest Service repeater at 169.875 MHz. They were using CTCSS of 123.0 Hz (tone 2).

I got another hit. Orange County VHF Access (countywide mutual aid) on 151.085 MHz, CTCSS 136.5 Hz (tone 4). They were talking about road closures in northern San Diego County due to fires.

I am curious about this frequency. I am not aware of a USFS repeater in SoCal on this frequency. What am I missing?

I found that after posting. Is that what the post was referring to?

I think there may be some confusion on the radio channels by responding fire units. I just heard several transmissions where a unit IDing as "3136 Charlie" was trying to contact "Cleveland" (call sign for Cleveland National Forest) on 151.175 MHz, which is normally CDF RRU 2.

Don't they use the RCS or are those CDF channels we're talking about?
