I just discovered I can get the OC Countywide system where I'm at, and there is actually a lot of stuff that is not encrypted. Nothing too exciting, though. Hearing Un-ID TGs that sound like school police or maybe building security, also OCSO Transit Police I think, all in the clear.

Big Ed, some stuff is digital, some is not. You can get FD traffic with just a regular trunked scanner like your Pro 94. Been hearing some unencrypted police or security traffic besides the fire stuff, too. Just leave it in open mode.

As I have said it is 50720. As SP told you, there is a mixed bag on the system. RED itself is digital but not encrypted. You can hear the OCFA and other fire services in analog. Lifeguards, I believe, are digital. Public works are analog and digital.

As for police, the Sheriff's Transit Bureau is digital.

Big Ed, I can hear the fire dept. stuff just fine and some other unknown stuff that sounds like school police or bus system transit police, also lifeguards and such. I just programmed in the TGs from Radio Reference but left it in open mode, so some transmissions show up with an ID, but a lot just shown the TG #, those are the things I'm trying to figure out what they are. The TG for RED that cvrules gave is correct. I think since I moved, I must be close to the transmission site for the Countywide OC system, as the control channel comes in strong like right in the neighborhood, that's how I found it. I scanned the 800 mhz band for control channels and ID each of them. You might have better luck at your location with a different OC system, try looking for the control channel like I did, the plug in the rest of the freqs. Good luck and happy monitoring!
