Can anybody confirm if this frequency: [154.100R 110.9 Hz] is being used in the city of Indio? I've logged medical traffic on this freq from my listening post in the western county. For example: "Medic 286 available from JFK returning to Station 86" so it leads me to believe its coming from Indio. If anybody can give a confirmed ID on this (especially if monitoring from the desert) that would be awesome.

154.100 is RVC Command 1. It was used for the Coachella Music Festival in Indio for coordination of the festival.

Ahhhh yes, I totally forgot about RVC Command 1. Strangely enough this is the first time I've noticed a PL tone being used on this freq. When I last heard RVC Command 1 a few months ago, it was CSQ on the output. Thanks for the info.

Don't be surprised if you see that frequency pop up in places other than Coachella Valley. It's a remnant of the old VHF Local Government system that the county had. It's licensed at Cactus City, Box Springs, Black Rock (near Blythe) and Elsinore Peak. Last I heard, Fire was going to use it county wide.

Just to expand on this, once county roads and county health move to the new county trunked system, county fire will take over those freqs for use.

The county Health system has been abandoned in place for years with very little use. There was talk of it going to AMR, but I don't know where that ended up. County Fire has been coveting all three frequency pairs for years.

This used to be the old RSO Channel 14 (Elsinore/Temecula) that they switched to in the evenings.

I'm also looking for the old RSO VHF channel list from the 80s if anyone has one. The radio shack in Lake Elsinore (MJM Electronics) used to have a list.

F7 Cactus City 159.090 (repeated 158.76) F7 had receivers at Whitewater, Indio, and Cactus City.

Eventually, the F2 receivers in Blythe were re-channeled to 159.450, to alleviate interference caused by the 1/4 KW at Box Springs that would duct all the way to Blythe.

The old F14 was actually the LG (local govt) system (154.100) that was redeployed at night and weekends to alleviate congestion of the Tri-City frequency. There was a switch that the dispatchers threw, and then they locked out the receivers for Cactus City and Black Rock so they didn't hear the Mexican bootleggers on the channel. Come the next day, radio techs would throw the switch again, and give the channel back to the Ag department, and the other people who used it during the day.

I used to listen to RSO in the late 80s in Elsinore on my Pro-31; Those were the innocent days of scanning! Didn't they carry Motorola VHF MX-300/350s? (No shoulder mics mind you), they would pull it out of this large leather carry holster to talk on it LOL. Yeah, its too bad a lot of those frequencies went to fire. It looks like 158.970 is a State license now.
