United States Marshall Service. An interesting agency. I used to work for an armed response patrol company that had a contract with the USMS to patrol and respond to alarms from homes and other buildings seized from drug dealers/gang members. Most were really fancy houses (like something out of a Miami Vice episode)in Windsor Hills, Baldwin Hills, Ladera Heights and thereabouts. The houses still had the contents of the occupants when they were seized, there was a lot of stuff like solid gold faucets, expensive paintings, sculptures, etc., so there was a lot of incentive to break in and get some of the stuff back. I actually caught some guys breaking in once and got to interact with the USMS people. I remember thinking back then their radio system seemed kind of sparse, I remember the agent calling his dispatch for info, and it was really scratchy; we were on a hilltop, so it should have been line of sight to all the mountain top repeater sites in the L.A. basin.

I looked through my old freq books, and the 6th Edition of the Registry of U.S. Govt. Radio Frequencies shows this as part of a freq pair, 162.71250/170.800 mhz. Also try 163.200/164.400, 163.2125, 163.8125/163.200, 163.8125/164.40, 164.60, 165.0125, 165.0625, 165.7125, 172.7125.

Sounds like a special kind of police.

That company was basically a private police dept., they had better equipment than the sheriff's dept. I went to later. They had a 800 mhz radio system with a MDT like they have on fire trucks with buttons for the common call activities and a "10-99" button. They were even talking about getting their own helicopter at one point. They did a good business in the upper crust neighborhoods of L.A. where LAPD and other agencies had a notoriously slow or non-existent response time to anything less that murders in progress. It was a fun job, got to poke around a lot of famous people's houses. O.J. Simpson's house in Pacific Palisades was one I remember in particular. This was in the mid 80's while I was waiting to get hired by a "real" police dept.

I bet they would have been interesting to monitor. That's awesome!

Been monitoring this the last 2 days and have heard nothing at all from East Hemet.

Pulled up the logs for that freq, no hits past 2 days.

Maybe some type of surveillance or prisoner transport through the area that has moved on?
